Introduction
Dutch influences in the architecture of Budapest: they are present and more than many people in general think. Especially around the first half of the 20th century there was a huge cultural exchange between the Netherlands and Hungary. In 1895, for example, an art exhibition was held during which works by Jan Toorop were exposed. Later, there were exchanges between for example The Style group led by Theo van Doesburg and the Hungarian counterpart from which Lajos Kassak was one of the leading figures. Also in the architectural world were many exchanges and several Hungarian architects frequently visited the Netherlands or Belgium. The Löffler brothers designed in 1923 a synagogue in Antwerp, Emil Ágoston died in 1920 in Berlin when he was on his way to the Netherlands for a design of a bathhouse and father and son Árkay visited the Netherlands in 1925. These are just a few examples. These contacts and travels have led to a number of buildings in Budapest which have influences of, in particular, the Amsterdam School. But also a church that clearly has Dudok influences can be found in Budapest.(Photo: Amsterdam School influences in Budapest)
What you get to see
The emphasis during this tour is showing a number of buildings with influences from the Amsterdam School. You also get to see a building with influences of Dudok. All these buildings are designed around 1930. They include a hospital, a bath house and a church. This special tour brings you literally from the east of Pest to the west in Buda. We also visit a street named for some time after one of the Dutch Queens. It is a private tour during which we frequently travel by public transport because several buildings are quite far from each other. So you will see many of the city too and also during these connections you won't get bored!

Duration
This tour lasts approx. 4 hours. The exact time is not to plan because we frequently make use of the public transport. During the tour it's possible to pause and something to drink or eat.Price
1-2 participants: €403-4 participants: €50
5-6 participants: €60
Note!.... In Julius' opinion it's important that in principle everyone should be able to follow a private tour. The transfer of knowledge is more important to him than become rich (I don't need a Ferrari, a Trabant is already enough and beside I don't have a drivers license...). Therefore, students studying anywhere in the world, and with a valid student card, get a discount of 50% on the prices listed above. In addition, children under the age of 16 accompanied by a parent or parents don't have to pay for a private tour. Beside: the prices Szia Budapest asks are already among the lowest private guides ask at internet.
Note! take also notice of the conditions / rules on the page "The small print".
